What Kind of Work Do You Actually Do?
Residential tree care, mostly, on lots between a rowhome and a half acre. That means taking down trees that have died or outgrown their spot, cutting back canopies that have gotten heavy over a roof, grinding stumps flush and below, and clearing trees that came down in a storm. We are not a landscaping company and we do not do lawns, beds, or hardscape. Trees are the whole job.
Why Work on This Peninsula Is Different
Most of these neighborhoods were built fast in the 1940s for steel workers, which means brick rowhomes and duplexes on narrow lots sharing rear alleys barely wide enough for one truck, with utility lines running the length of them. Behind those blocks sit postwar Cape Cods and ranchers with a little more room but the same overhead wires. The shade trees planted back then are now sixty and seventy feet of silver maple standing eight feet off a bedroom wall.
So the hard part of this work here is rarely cutting. It is getting equipment to the tree, finding somewhere to put a sixty-foot limb on a lot that is forty feet wide, and rigging pieces down past a service drop without touching it. A crew used to open suburban yards will quote that job wrong, then either walk or start improvising over your roof. We plan the access before we price it.
How Do You Price Work?
A fixed number, written down, after somebody has looked at the tree. Not an hourly rate, and not a range that drifts upward once the truck is in the driveway. If we find something during the job that genuinely changes the scope, which happens occasionally with hidden decay, work stops and you get a call before anything else happens. Estimates are free and there is no charge for coming out to look.
What Does Licensed and Insured Mean in Practice?
It means the certificates exist and we will send them to you before the crew arrives. Maryland licenses tree care work, and we carry general liability plus workers' compensation on top of that. Ask any company you call for the same thing. If a tree goes through your roof or somebody gets hurt in your yard, the difference between a licensed insured crew and a truck with a chainsaw is whether that becomes your problem or theirs.
What Happens to the Wood?
Brush gets chipped, trunk wood gets hauled, and the ground gets raked. If you heat with wood, tell us at the estimate and we will cut rounds to your stove length and stack them where you point, at no extra cost, because it saves us hauling them. Grindings from a stump can stay as mulch or leave with us. Whatever we move during the job goes back where it was.
